Our Classes

Hatha Yoga and Meditation

Class will emphasize Mindfulness (awareness of present experience with acceptance) as we practice Asana (yoga postures), Pranayama (breathwork) and meditation. The physical practice will feature poses designed to open hips, shoulders and lower back in preparation for seated meditation, which is of benefit to all students. Class will end in tranquil meditation. Open to all levels. Beginners welcome.

Restorative Yoga

In Restorative Yoga, the body is fully supported with props to facilitate deep opening, relaxation and release. Restorative yoga stimulates the body’s relaxation response thus combatting stress and counteracting stress-related conditions. Mental and emotional benefits include feeling calm, well-rested, clear-headed and emotionally centered. No yoga experience is necessary.

Moving in Stillness

Take your pratice to the next level by quieting the mind while directing the breath and challenging the body! In a warmed room, students are invited to increase flexibility, strength and balance through standing and seated asanas. Some yoga experience is recommended.

Vinyasa Yoga

Release the day’s tensions with vinyasa yoga. A vinyasa is essentially a series of flowing, connected poses, incorporating breath and movement and cultivating heat, strength, flexibility, and balance. Standing poses increase strength and stamina, bending and twisting poses improve flexibility, balancing poses create focus. Vinyasa yoga teaches us to cultivate an awareness that links each action to the next—on the mat and in our lives. Fluid music creates a serene atmosphere in which to integrate mind, body and spirit.

Vinyasa II Yoga

Vinyasa II is an intermediate level course. This class will further individual growth in their practice, and is fun, challenging and nurturing. Class themes will inform and inspire you to the qualities of nature (gunas, tamas, rajas, sattva) with a creative flow of namaskar sequences, standing postures, forward bends, and hip openers. Backbends, inversions, and meditation will encourage the cultivation of our greatest possibilities inspired by the great virtues (yamas and niyamas). Students are invited to draw into the celebration of embodiment as we playfully align the body, mind, and heart using the study of the five elements while we learn and practice balancing poses of every variety, seated poses, mudra, mantra, and meditaion for inner reflection and recognition.

Gentle Beginner’s Yoga

Designed for first timers and students who wish to practice using a chair for support. Whether seated or standing, students receive step by step instruction on the fundamental poses. Individual attention is available, and students will learn to use yoga props—strap, blanket, block and chair– to enhance their practices. As in all our classes, expect to increase strength, balance and flexibility, cultivate breath awareness, and experience relaxation and wellbeing.

Morning Vinyasa

The linked series of poses called “vinyasa” has its origin in the Ashtanga Sun Salutation. By way of the breath, this class takes each student to his or her “edge”, regardless of experience. Expect a creative sequence of linked poses, a longer-held pose or two, some yin yoga during seated poses, and a traditional sivasana. Feel free to flow with your inner guide. Some yoga experience is recommended.
